SVT Pistions
I am starting a budget build in order to go boost. Will the SVT pistons work well? I am using SVT rods and ARP rod bolts,
I need all the advice that I can get. Thanks in advance |
What block you using? From what I remember the rods and. Piston combo are a little bit longer, than standard zetec combo.
|
Stock Zetec block. I have read that they are longer too. But, they have the same stroke due to repositioned wrist-pins. So they should work(I hope).
|
whats your budget for this built block ?
is this for long or short block? whats your current and/or future setup when this block is first fired up? |
$700-$1000.00 including machine shop fees for milling the head and block and, to hone the cyls. This is gonna be a long block.
Currently, Stock Zetec, 65mm throttle body, FS cool-flo SRI, Adj. cam gears. 127whp. Just got Tom's tune and will have the cam gears dyno tuned this coming Saturday. My goal is 270ish whp with the new block under boost. |
so basicly 700 bucks for built block. What turbo setup or is this a custom deal and if so what turbo.
Let me see what i can come up with for 700.00 Also do you have money now? Alot of times I can find incredible deals, but they dont last long. |
The rods have nothing to do with the stroke , the SVT rods are longer and the only way to use them is with a custom set of pistons or the stock SVT pistons and the SVT pistons are not good pistons at all there not much better then the stock Zetec pistons
For 270HP max to the wheels you will be fine , over 300 and go eagle and forged pistons Tom |
Yeah $700 in parts to build the spare block. The rods and pistons will be here on Friday. I have yet to tear down the block. We're gonna do an universal ebay kit. With probably a T28 turbo.
I am looking to get ARP head studs, good bearings, gaskets and so forth. Money could be had with several days notice. I do have 46lb injectors on a Y2K intake as well. |

So are you thinking a regular zetec rebuild kit Tom? |
The SVT rods and pistons will be fine for 270HP is what I was saying
