Kysor Active Grill disabling
Anyone know how to disable the Kysor grill? Is it electrically activated? I want to disable it temporarily to exclude it from my search for the dreaded slight metal or plastic rattle over small bumps. Thanks

I have the same car as you, and I dont believe you have this feature. I believe it was only available in the Focus SFE You might have the same rattle as me. http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/showthread.php?t=306748 |

All Job 2 2012 Focus models and all Job 1 2013 Focus models were supposed to be built with the kysor shutter system. I doubt that it's making that rattling noise though. For reference Job 1 2012 was from late 2010 (serial production for retail around March 2011) through 3/4/12. Job 2 builds started 3/5/12 but were not really fully job 2 builds (i.e. many were missing the four way head restraints until around the week of 4/10/12) through 7/22/12 which was the end of 2012 production. Job 1 for 2013 started 7/23/12 and is still currently going on. |
I have the shutters. They open and close like a venetian blind. I don't remember my package but it sure did include them.

I have a 2013 SE and I can feel the shutters with my hand, but I have never seen them close. I'm in the Chicago area so it's been pretty cold here.

Yep, I'm in chicago too and its cold. My rattle is exterior based. I've been using a wireless microphone and getting close. I've pinned all loose plastic panels and wheel well liners with those Ford plastic inserts with the plastic push in screws. My interior is quiet, no complaints. My microphone says its in the nose area. Of course, rattles like this can be telescoped from other areas. Gonna keep trying cause the dealer is useless for something like this - went to the dealer several times and say they can't replicate. They won't let me take them to a proper area where I can replicate. Like I said, useless so I'll do it myself.
