2003 SPI problem

OK so my SPI blew up as usual. I found a rebuilt 2.0 SPI in a 2001. Heard it run. Installed it into my 2003. Engine cranks but will not start. I can hear the fuel pump start up. Everything hooked up. Fuel pu,p inertia switch not tripped. Any thoughts? Only thing i did was had to wire directly the crank position sensor without the connector because it broke during removal/installation. Thoughts?

Did you hook up the brown yellow ground on the right side of battery?

Is it hooked to the negative terminal? Or something else? Not at the car right now but I dont remember a ground strap over there.....

would the crank position sensor wiring, if it isnt perfect, cause a no-start condition? Wondering if I need to re-visit that...I used one of those dual female middle crimp jobs on each wire.......to connect them.

how can I check if i am getting fuel up to the rail? There is no schrader valve up there.....

any more help guys? Does this sound like its a crank position sensor issue? Turns over freely just no start....fuel pump def pressurizing....
