2007 - 2.0 litre

Hi Everyone,

This is a great forum...lots of great threads to research. I have two 2007 focus..one a wagon and the other is a 2 door 5 speed. I try to do as much of my own work as possible and rely on my hayes manual. I often notice when doing work on the engine the manual will break it down for ztec engines, and then it will mention spi..which I assume I have however then it will give other directions for 2005 and later 2.0 engines. Do I have a different generation 2.0 spi? ...if so will I be likely to have the valve issues I have read about on this forum that is common to the spi?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

[welcome] to FF! [ffrocks]

Since both of your Foci are 07's, you have Duratecs in both. Here are the different Focus engines:

Zetec:

the focus received a mid gen update in 2005, after that point all north american focus's would have been switched to using the 2.0 duratec (or 2.3l for the ST)

Here are some duratec related threads you can read over:

The wiki page at the very top is pretty informative

Just to clarify.... The SPI is not a "POOP".

It is a very reliable motor with one common (and preventable) failure.
