Continuous's Build Thread
Since I made one of these on Focal Jet I figured I'd start one on here as well.
So basically I've recently purchased a 2004 ZX3 SVT in Infra-red and I decided that I needed a build thread. Just to give you all some of my background I am a Ford Certified Service Technician so the work I'll be doing is somewhat easier becuase I have access to the manuals. That doesn't mean I won't share that information with any of my fellow Foci drivers just hit me up if you need the info. I setup my build lists by categories and I may need some of your help to decide which manufacturer to go with in some of the parts I purchase. Any of the parts I have options afterwards are where you my fellow Foci enthusiasts come in if you have an opinion on the choices let them be known. Now my car besides the wheels the car is completely stock. So here are my categories:

Then I Deleted the Lunchbox and attempted to hollow the cat was not so successful with the cat.
I received some late presents in the mail in the last couple days, yesterday I received this:
I just did a test fit and install of it today still will be removed and plastidipped black but doesn't look too bad, I will take some daylight pics though cause the lamps behind it aren't as visible in normal daylight.
And last but not least I received one of my two ORP's today as well as my Plastidip and Glossifier from Dipyourcar.com.
(Dogs can't keep their noses out of the way sometimes, this one will be for inspection purposes since we just have a visual inspection of emissions devices and this one looks like it has a cat in it yet.)
(This is for the Grille which is staying matte black and the rest is for my roof doing black then glossifier.)
Did you cut up the upper SVT grille for the billet? That is a hard grille to find, you can find the SVT lowers on eBay all day, but never an upper. It kills me to see people ruining hard to find parts. When I had my hood plastidipped, I used 3 cans and it still wasn't enough, cause it was very hard to remove.
If I was you, I would save my money and do it right the first time, trust me - I have been there with where you are headed & it's not a good place.
You can get a euro facelift grille off eBay for $50, I am sure that billet costed about $30. Here is the exact euro grille that was on my car, from the same seller:
I plastidipped that black and had it on my car until I got a Hofele
It is your car, do what makes you happy, but please look around and see what other people are doing.
You wanted advice on which parts to buy, please take it!

Why would you want to take off the SVT header for that?

There is really no comparison, you need to keep the stock header - there is no need to explain why.
I agree. The grille you cut up could have got you some decent money if you would have sold it.
As far as intakes, if you're looking for more power, there is no better intake than your factory SVT intake.
Same goes with the header, nothing really compares to the power output.. This is why all the non SVT owners want to swap to that header.
I see where you're coming from, want to swap stuff to make it nicer and more "you" but tbh majority of your engine is practically the best there is.
One question i have for you is, why a Cobra badge? [scratch]
Looks like you're on the right path with a few things- Massive massacre bars and a CFM adjustable sts. I'm not trying to be rude, but you should take the advice of the people that chime in here.

the svt is pretty much maxed out performance wise.. not many things better to add to it..
a tune does do wonders.. i personally have Tom's Tune and i love it. can't speak of other tunes since i only have his.
i am running the svt exhaust with a orp and lunch box delete. soon, i will get a borla/magnaflow customized to my liking..

Thanks Svvift really like the color theme you have for yours, and I know cutting it up wasn't the best idea but the fact that I was able to use the factory mounting on them instead of fabricating something and re-wiring it, to me was a good trade off. I do think I may tint the lenses or niteshade them cause they are a lil bright and you can see them during the day.
HERE is the link to our SVT sticky threads, they will have all the info you need to know what direction to take with your car. Like it was said that shorty header would be 5 steps back. A lot of folks get the factory header ceramic coated to cut down heat and make it look all pretty.
alright thanks sleepy I wasn't sure when I put that in the thread if it would be an improvement...kinda the reason I posted on here before buying everything.
Alright jetters I'm looking for some input on this idea I had for my old Saleen Focus Shift knob to see if I can use it in my car and kinda make it fit in with a red car. Basically I took some Testors red metallic paint and painted the rings and the screws in it and I really like the way it came out. Now, what I want to know is if I should get a similar paint in black and do the rest of the knob or leave it silver. I am planning on some black shift boots with red stitching in the near future so just to keep that in mind. Here's the eye candy:
Meh leave it silver. No matter what paint you use, it'll eventually rub off and look like poo. Just my opinion. It looks good as is
