** Attention 2012 Focus HB Titanium Owners
 

I know there are a lot of us on here that are experiencing issues with out 2012 Ford Focus Hatchback Titanium cars. I for one have been trying to get Ford to do something about a few issues but its difficult to be heard as by my self. Presently I have the following issues with my Focus. Let me know if you have any others that I'm not aware of yet.

Front strut crunching noise at low speeds
Roll back when park at an incline.
MyFord Touch
Poor performance below 45 degrees temperature

Not sure what you're trying for with this.


Legitimate concern, but there's a TSB for it, I believe. Have you had this done? I know for a number of people this doesn't seem to be a long-term fix though.

This isn't technically an issue, but there's a TSB that addresses this. Have you had that done?

Ford doesn't care about that, honestly. You can check out the MFT thread here, but you're not the only one with issues. Also, people on here will either just agree with you that it's bad or tell you you're wrong, so this isn't the best platform. Have you tried 3.5.1?

I think that's called being cold and having a 4 cylinder? This is a pretty ambiguous statement.

I get what you are trying to do but I think it's going to fall on deaf ears. You will have much better luck with your issues by going to the dealer and hounding them to fix your problems until you are satisfied. If they refuse, go to another dealer. I was fortunate to have my dealer fix all of my issues on one visit. Albeit a 5 day visit, the car was fixed when I got it back. My issues were MFT, trans shudder, and the epass steering issue. The dealer updated my MFT, updated my trans, and replaced the epass rack. I have not had the front end strut noise many complain about. I do have rattles in headliner and door panels, but most of the time I have my radio so loud I can't hear them, so it's moot to me. When the headliner falls, I will take it to the dealer to be fixed.

Can you elaborate on the poor performance below 45 degrees? Is this a trans issue? I know the trans will shift differently when it's cold but I have not had this issue yet. Coldest temps we have so far is in the high 20's at night and 30's by the time I'm driving.

The rolling back on a hill is by design. It's called HSA Hill Start Assist. It's not just a Ford thing. Basically the way it works is when you remove your foot from the brake on a hill, the car will remain stationary for 2-3 seconds. After the delay HSA releases and the car is free to roll like a manual trans would.

After HSA releases the car will roll till it engages the parking lock. This is similar to a normal automatic parking on a hill, once you release the brakes it will roll a little.

Unless yours rolls away, then you have a real issue!

You're not serious about these last three are you?

1) It's called a parking brake. Pull it. You have a manual transmission that's controlled by a computer. Treat it like one.

2) How many revisions have been made to MFT since its inception? Ford is obviously aware that this needs work and they are continually trying to rectify this problem.

3) Ever heard of "winter" gas and the laws of thermodynamics? More ethanol in your gasoline means decreased efficiency during combustion. Lower ambient temps mean decreased performance of any gasoline engine.

Call me crazy, but I love my Focus Ti Hatch.

Clayton has the right idea but the lackluster do nothing attitude and accept by design is why there is no resolve to the issues.

what do any of those problems (except maybe the MFT) have to do with hatchbacks or Titanium trim? seems a really narrow range of cars you're looking for

My guess would be that since the original poster apparently owns a Titanium Hatch, that's the only Focus flavor that matters.

Poor cold weather performance? We need a little more description than just "poor".

My SE Sport Hatch loves low temps... The butt dyno says it runs excellent at 45-50 degrees.
