auto trans issues. 01 focus

girfriends car was slipping out of gear, brought it in, tried lucas oil, didnt help, changed the tranny fluid, and filter. i believe it stopped slipping although now when you drop it into gear, it stalls unless you first put it into neutral, rev it slightly, then put into drive. also stalls when coming to a stop once you get around 10-15 mph. im thinking possible torque converter gone bad, but im not 100% so here i am asking for more experience opinions.

Look here and see if you can find anything if not post something or PM the guy who started the post.

it will help when it comes to the slipping issue if it still exists with the car. but i did send the guy a message concerning the car stalling when engaging drive/reverse from a stop, and stalling when coming to a stop.

That could be a collapsed pvc hose on the back of your engine. Look at it if that's the problem here is a how to.

I've been on here a lot and I've fixed a lot of theirs problems myself so I know what thread to look for lol I hope this helps.
But if that's not it I'll bet it's the alternator.

How many miles on it? Don't forget that these 01's had major fuel pump issues that caused stalling. Specifically, my 01 would stall and attempt to die when it shifted sometimes. Just another possible cause.

I'd check that and probably check, clean, or replace the IAC valve.
