Engine Cover Question
As a new FF member, just purchased a 2012 SEL. I see in some pictures that the engine has a cover with the Duratec 2.0 logo on it while other engine bay pictures do not. After installing a K&N air filter to my car, I noticed it didn't have a plastic engine cover on it. Is it an optional item that I have to order separately? Thanks for answering my question in advance.

The engine cover was originally standard on the Titanium but was eliminated from production early in the Job 1 builds. It was still available to be installed over the counter if you ordered the cover and the studs that it mounts to. It is available here. |
Thanks for the quick reply and link to purchase the engine cover. Looks like another item I will be installing to the new car. Happy New Year!

Thank you for the info! Looks a lot better with the cover than without.

Looks like Partscheap.com just shipped the engine cover. Based on the UPS site, it may arrive late tomorrow. Can't wait!

Looking to order this myself after the credit card statement closes for this month![eek]

What are the pros and cons of the cover? I kind of like the look without.

For me I like the look having the cover. Just makes the engine bay look cleaner to me. And since the cover has insulation, it slightly reduces engine noise entering the cabin.

I find this funny because cleaning my garage I found engine covers for my last two cars on one of the shelves. I find they get in the way

When I used to do the work myself, I agreed that the cover would be in the way.
Now that I have the dealer maintenace package, and don't have to do the work anymore, I think it looks great![headbang] |
