Replacing stock cd/radio in 2000 Focus.

Dealer installed a factory issue original unit in my wife's car today. Radio worked fine but the cd player would not play any cd. Is there a code that must be put in or something else? Any ideas?

Either the laser is still locked or it is defective.

Thanks. He's going to order another and try it. If that doesn't work, any suggestions?

Not really they don't lend themselves to the abuse of shipping. A tech that has never installed one may not know to unlock the laser from it's shipping position.

Thanks again. I don't think he knew as they're more into aftermarket stuff, not OLD stuff like this! I'll speak tomorrow and see what happens.

If it doesn't work you can buy mine I pulled outta my 2000 this summer, worked mighty fine for me

as above, they just go out over time. and shipping is not your friend with some electronics.

Don't know your exact situation, but you can always go aftermarket. can be done fairly inexpensive depending on what you want out of it. and this can give you more capabilities like aux in, ipod, usb, BT. . .

^Also sound is better and they look a lot nicer!

Thanks for the info. It's for my wife's car and she used to 'occasionally' listen to cd's. $400 for a stock replacement did seem a bit steep too. What price for a used one?

Pete, I have a factory 6 disk out of a '04 that worked fine when I removed it this year to go aftermarket. $40 and it's your's, I am in Long Beach.
