passenger door corners peeling?
Hey guys. Been a long time since being on here :( but i have noticed a happy problem with my focus. On the passenger door sill, in the corner where he side skirt goes into the wheel arch i noticed the paint is all peeled and chipped.. On both sides. I was wondering if any one else has this problem and any ideas you all have to cover it up and MAKE IT LOOK GOOD. Cause with FF13 coming up i want my car looking good. I will put picks up later this afternoon when i get home. Thanks in advanced.

Here is a picture of the drivers side... The spray paint looking stuff is asphalt undercoating... i put it on there just to protect it for the winter from all the harsh salt. |
look up the recalls and service bulletins on these. I remember this coming up a while ago and there was something about that exact issue. it may still be covered.

Ford has offered a corrosion and paint warranty since before I used to sell them; back then it was 7 years/100k miles... if you remember your salesperson or feel like chatting up a service advisor; they should be able to tell you what your options are. Or you could roll the dice with a google search...

Like others, I suggest to take your car to the dealer for warranty service. I think your rust is premature. Nothing to lose by taking it in. It is not right that your focus is getting rusted so soon. Good luck. Keep us informed

Thanks for the advice guys. I will take it to the dealer on my lunch tomorrow. But the ford dealer it was bought from has since went under. So hopefully another dealer will up hold the warranty. That is if its some what the same in Canada as the states?

There is a TCB on this, ford should take care of it. Keyword is should.

UPDATE. So i had time to take my focus to two different dealers, in two different cities, one being where my car was bought brand new, they both said, its my problem, not fords... its a design flaw thats not covered by any warranty aside from the 3 year, 60 000km warranty... and it would be about $300 for them to repaint it. I then showed the head guy at the auto body department the pre-mature rust forming on the bottom edge of my trunk, and he said that also wasnt covered... some bs from ford.

The only time rust is actually covered is if you purchase a rust care package new with the car. All of us northern states and canada get the short straw because our roads get salted.
Must be nice buying a car that will last forever in the south lol |
