blacked out chrome

just did some painting, i was sick of the chrome bits on the car so i went semi gloss black on them. did the wiskers on the front grill, fog light bezles and rear badges.

I was thinking about blacking out my fog light bezels, i will for sure now. Looks good

they are a bitch to remove, got to get in behind the fogs to take the fogs out so you can get to the bezle clips to pop them off. while the paint is drying you can re install the fogs and pop the fender liners back in place. the bezles can simplly be clipped back on from the outside.

In the future just remove the headlights, 2 screws and one plug and you can access the fog lights that way. takes 5 mins.

You said you painted the wiskers did you remove those or mask them off. I havent been able to remove them yet and I dont want to break them.

Wow, those look really good. I have been thinking about going around my Sterling Grey Ti and blacking out all the chrome since I hate it (Fog Light Bezels, Front Whiskers, Badges, The lip under the windows). Now I really think I might do it.

Is it the pictures or does that semi gloss have a like strong matte black look?

what i actually did to the wiskers was i used black vinyl wrap as u can do this on the car with great results.

Looks very good. Question for you, how exactly did you do the rear emblems? I'm debating either blacking mine out, or removing them completely. They do tend to collect a lot of dirt back there.

use dental floss or fishing line to get them off, then use claybar and water to get the sticky crap off the paint do not use solvents as that will ruin the paint. remove all sticky crap from the badge and paint as you please. to reattach get some 3m double sided tape get the stuff with the red backing available from most hardware stores. you will need to cut the tape in strips and apply it to the badge , then stick the badge back to the car. use some painters tape to set up a nice straight line before putting the badge on

Cool. I've removed plenty of trim pieces before, just want sure how everyone was doing their badges in black. Might have to do that on one of my days off.

I'd just Plasti-dip the emblems since that eliminates the need to remove them and you can reverse then if you or the next owner likes.
