Car topped out...Help

So today i had the sudden urge to actually open my car up and stop babying it. Well i was pretty unsatisfied when i looked down and my car topped out at [mad][mad][mad]. How would i go about taking my gov off to reach higher speeds that i know my car is capable of?

Short answer... a tune

Smart answer... don't speed on public roadways

How much would a tune run me?

Aku 11-19-2012 12:08 PM

Roughly the $400 range give or take. Don't remember off hand. FSWerks or Tom Sell em as well as a few other companies I think.

Is it tune myself? Like one i plug into my car and clear it out or is it where i have to take it to them and they do it for me?

Dont post speeds over the limit. Ive edited your original post to reflect this. Any questions please PM Me or another Moderator of this section

It's more your gearing that will limit you as a bit more hp just gets you there quicker but it would take a significant gain to actually gain more top speed. My Eclipse topped out at it's drag limited speed with it's stock 195hp so it wasn't faster with almost 400hp but it attained it's top speed in nearly the 3rd of it's stock time.

Yes, they will sell you a custom tune that you will flash yourself. They will send you an xcal3 preloaded with a tune and will be able to remotely tune you when you provide them with datalogs. They will be able to fine tune and adjust their original tune accordingly from there.

One of the parameters they can change is your ecu governed max speed (or remove it altogether.) That may be useful for track use but not for much else. The main benefits of a tune are increased drive-ablity and performance through the normal ranges and speeds you typically see every day. Please stay safe and responsible on public roads [:)]

Anyone have any sites where i can get one of these?

Everyone on this forum has sped at one time or another. I don't understand why we still play that card lol. Myself included.
