Straight intake causes a rough takeoff
I took out the resonator and the MAF tube and replaced it in that little corner with a straight pipe and a cone air filter. I cut a rectangular hole in the piping for the MAF and sealed it in pointing the right direction.
Initially I had the check engine light but I was told I should disconnect the battery to reset the emissions settings. That fixed the light (I drove around for about ten minutes and it didn't come back on), and it seems to have power still, though I'm not sure if it's the same amount or more or less. Anyways the problem I'm seeing now is that from a takeoff if I go slow like you normally would just driving around at about 2000 RPM it jerks a bit like it's starving for air or something. Could this be as a result of the filter? Give me until tomorrow and I can post pics. |
The maf adapter it has to be the same size as the oem or can be fixed with a tune the u can put inside a velocity stack or something so it can be the same sizes or the maf is not gonna read good the inner size is iirc 2.5"

wait until you drive the car a second time...that CEL will be back. what is the code?

If you want to keep that set up you made you will need a custom tune , let me know if I can help

I think I might try the "stealth" intake mod but I need to know if that runs a risk of getting wet since it rains so much here. |
I'm sure it would be less risk than the tube you made.
how big is the tube anyway? that's your problem though I'm sure |

doesnt the diameter of where the maf goes in need to be the same ? or am i trippin?

is the inner diameter the same though? someone mentioned it might be 2.5" ID. those rubber intake tubes are probably a 1/4" wall so that would make sense.
its reading lean because the inner diameter is bigger than stock so its letting more air in than it thinks. try to find a smaller or thicker tube... match up the I.D. and give it another try. |
