Unusual noise

We have a 2013 Focus SE. When either of the front doors are opened something in the left front corner of the engine compartment starts making noise. Sounds kinda like an electrical relay or something trying to energize.
If the engine is not started the noise keeps up for a few minutes then quits.

When we asked the Dealer, they really couldn't tell us what what was making
the noise but assured us that it was normal.

We haven't had any problems with anything. Car runs great and everything
works normally.

Anyone know of this noise?

[facepalm] WTH.... for goodness' sake some dealers......[nutkick]

Here's what I'd do, pop the hood, open the fuse box, open a door, find what is making the noise. Find another dealer, show them what you found. If they repair it, then you've found the dealer that you should be taking your car to.

Hi WilliamT,

If possible, take your vehicle for a test drive with the Service Advisor sitting next to you. If you can replicate the noise while they are in the vehicle with you, they'll have a better shot at accurately diagnosing your concern. Also, as whynotthinkwhynot stated, swinging by a different Ford dealership for a second opinion is an option as well.

Feel free to contact me via PM if you have any other questions or concerns. I'm happy to see how I can help!

Thanks for the good info, whynotthinkwhynot!

Have a great day,

LOL - I just came on here to post this same question. My 2013 Titanium hatch does it as well. I was wondering if maybe it was the grill shutters opening and closing or something. I am not sure if it stops once the car is started or if the engine noise (and radio) just drown it out.

Hi slybarman,

You may want to ask your dealer to check out the noise the next time you're in for scheduled maintenance or your next oil change appointment. Ford certified techs are your best bet when it comes to prompt, accurate diagnosis; at the very least, having them inspect the noise will give you some peace of mind.

If you have any questions, feel free to send me a PM.

Thanks!

Thanks. I was more curious than worried. I assumed the car knew what it was doing. :)
