Newb looking for help ;-0

Hey All,

Just picked up a 2012 Focus SEL a couple weeks ago..Now I have been a GM guy all my life until now.

While tthe Focus is a cute little car, there are a couple of annoying issues that I never thought to check when I test drove the car. Most I can live with but the one thing that is really ticking me off is no digital display of speed. All my previous GM vehicles were capable of this(Terrain, G5)

The car is fully loaded with the MySync entertainment with the 8" screen etc. On the dash there is some vehicle info being displayed. Totally useless info for day to day driving This info is trip odometers, average fuel, distance to empty etc. These are nice to have, but there appears to be NO way to have the speed displayed in this window. The system is surely capable as when the cruise control is set, it shows the speed.

Hoping that a Ford engineer will see this and get a firmware update for the display.

Actually thinking of selling over this one issue.

There is a thing, positioned forward of the steering wheel, roughly 4" in dia. It displays the current speed of the vehicle.

It's called a speedometer. Cars have used them for about 90 years.

I'm gonna second the use of the speedo...

Interesting troll post.

If the car is a fully loaded SEL, then you have the capability of using cruise. This will accurately reflect speed when on flat ground, though may be slightly off with terrain.

You can actually set the cruise quite low, and then furiously hit the increase button while also pressing the accelerator, giving you a faux digital readout.

Actually, if this bothers you as much as you say it does, then I think that taking a huge hit and getting back in the general would financially be the best bet for you. Surely then Ford will have learned their lesson[thumb]

Obvious troll is obvious.

I third this. I have used my speedometer for years.

Reminds me of the digital vs analog watch argument... One is for those that can tell time the other is for those that just need the time.

So you are telling me that you are going to get rid of a car because it doesn't digitally show you speed? Lol, this has to be some kind of joke, right? Come on man, that's what the speedometer is for, if you are really looking to get rid of a brand new car because of this, that's just laughable. What has the world come to? how ever will I ever drive with with no digital speedometer?....SMH

The Civic has a big digital display
