2004 svt stock with turbo??
Ok, so I just bought a 2004 focus svt and was wondering something. I talked to a friend of mine about putting a turbo on it. He told me to lower the compression on the engine by rebuilding the bottom end of the motor. Now I did a little research and It seemed to be true for stock engines. But this being a svt engine I was not sure about if it would work without doing all of that, which psi turbo I would be able to get so I will get the most out of the engine and my turbo.

you can turbo stock engines, but youll have to limit boost pressure. Some people, who had good compression numbers, got up to 350 whp on stock SVT engines. But these are ragged edge and bad gas will cause deto and engine failure. Personally, 250-300 whp is plenty. GT28rs and done.

You can turbo a stock SVT engine, but you need to keep the boost within moderation. Its not hard to pop a stock engine if you do something wrong.
Also, you will need a stronger clutch to hold the power. Stock clutches are only good to about 200hp |
Ok. This is kind of my first rodeo so to speak with this sort of thing. What would you suggest to get overall? Like a ,gauge, clutch.... what would you suggest to get the most out of the turbo and which turbo would be the best for my certain situation on putting it on a stock engine?

do some searching here and on focaljet.com. your questions have been answered before.

the stock clutch will hold fine unless your making more then 250ish whp. youll need a boost gauge and a/f gauge. and keep the boost no higher then around 10-12psi. and youll be 100% safe with a good tune of coarse

When I replaced mine, i had 80k on the stock clutch, so it was a bit stiff anyway. the stiffer spring on the stage 3 feels about the same, so it's been totally fine for daily driving.
My only complaint was the chatter at idle. Its definitely louder than the stock clutch, so that can get annoying. But on the way the thing grabs is amazing. |
Not thread jacking I just installed a CM Stage 3 Clutch and FW breakin it in got 200 miles on it my pervious clutch was a stage 2 spec and it had alot more presure on it then this stage 3
