Keyless locking system problem

Hey everyone, I've got a 2012 Titanium. Went to open the rear door earlier today and it would unlock, tried three times maybe. All of a sudden the thing went crazy. Car wouldn't unlock at all and would constantly try to unlock and then lock again. Good thing I had the window open to unlock the car.

I started it up (push button ignition if it matters) and I started fine. Got iut after shutting it off, went to lock it again, by lacing my finger on the handle and again it went off like crazy. Walked well away from the car and locked and unlocked it by the remote. Worked out.

Came home, had to move the car and again it stared doing the same things. Anyone have this problem??? The only thing I can think of maybe is interference from another remote that I had on my keys???

Help please!!!![pray]

Not sure if its the same problem as you but before I knew the black touch button locked the car I would have my thumb on it when trying to unlock the car. Couldn't figure out why the car would lock and not unlock. [facepalm]

I did the same when I first got the car. Had my fingers around the handle and pressed my thumb on the black. Could figure out why it didn't lock. Then I saw a YouTube video and saw the guy just press the black and ta da, I locked. [?|]

Yikes! How frustrating! Does this happen every time or just once in a while? I would advise that you make an appointment at your dealership so they can take a look. If it's only an occasional problem you could probably hold off until your next scheduled oil change.

If you have any other questions or concerns, feel free to shoot me a PM and I'll do what I can to help.

I noticed the last few times my handles didn't respond to my hand were the times my keyfob was out of range.
I have long arms and I tend to do a weird leaning thing while standing far enough away for the door to swing wide open.
I found the range is about my arms length standing straight up. So when I do this leaning thing where I'm a step away from straight up and the keyfob is in the opposite pocket of the reaching hand it won't respond.
However when I rotate and end up using my other hand which pivots the key closer it does.

A bit annoying but it's something to get used to

One thing I noticed, the lock/unlocking of the car reacts differently depending on where the key fob is on my person. Allot of times I have fob and my cell phone in the same hand or pocket. That can definitely cause RF interference with the key fob. I have also found times when I go to enter the car and it does not unlock, but when I turn my body a bit, it than works. So must also have something to do with the antennas in both the car and the fob.

Don't know what frequency they are on, but the higher the frequency (like 2.4/5.8 GHz), the more interference it will experience from objects. Lower frequencies like 900 MHz which is used on RFID devices are less effected by that type of interference.

Just happens the one time. Seems ok now, thank God!! I was really worried at first, the car seemed possessed!

Bassmobile and phocus, I've had similar problems with the fob. It does take some getting used to. I find that if you use a "gentler" hand motion when grasping the handle it works pretty seamlessly.

Crystal, thanks for your concern. If it acts up again I will most certainly bring it in to the dealer.
