I am thinking about getting a blinking/strobing LED to put in my Focus. Either on the rearview mirror or on the dash somewhere. You know those ones you see in cars with security systems? Like these.

My buddy at work that used to work at Car Toyz (and still does some work on the side there) says that that is the biggest deterrent to thieves. That, and if they are bold enough to knock on your roof to see if you have a force detector.

Yep. Thinking of putting it somewhere more noticeable that makes it look like I have a super-duper high tech alarm system. Haha.

I guess it depends. Real car thieves aren't deterred by real car alarms, so if you're worried about your CD book disappearing - get it. Your entire car - pass.

Most real car thieves will not take an un-modded MkI.

But in order to save you grief, spend $150.00 or less on a real alarm.
