seventystangfan's '02 ZX3 Build

Here is my newly bought 2002 Focus ZX3 ZETEC 5-speed. I got this car 10-16-2012. I was able to trade my previous car, a 1997 Explorer Sport 4x4, evenly. The main reason for this trade was of course the fuel milage (14-15 MPG vs 30+ MPG.) I'm sure this difference in MPG would be much greater were I a nicer driver ;)

So, basic info...
2002 ZX3
150,000 miles
2.0 ZETEC 5-speed manual
Cloth seats, cruise, manual windows and locks, baseline Focus model.

As of October 23, 2012 I have changed oil and filter, air filter, replaced the sway bar link the previous owner did not (this previous one was twisted) and 2 tires.
I have found out that it needs both struts on the front replaced, a rear bushing that requires the whole assembly be replaced, and that its current wheels are kinda poopy. They have extreme curb rash and also don't balance well. So my first "mods" persay will be the struts, that bushing assembly, and hopefully wheels. I've put pictures of the wheels on here, let me know your opinion on them...

After these things I would love to do a CAI, tinted lights, a shortie antenna, weight reduction, possibly new seats, and some body repairs, and whatever else I find on the forum [wrenchin]

Might I suggest one of these kits if you're going to do the struts anyway?

With some TLC, you'll have a nice car there.

Good luck! Car looks good and plans seem great!

you will find a LOT of things you'll want to do with the car on here. believe me. lol

oh and welcome!! [ffrocks]

Sweet trade, man! I would highly suggest tinting taillights. Super cheap, and completely changes the look of the car!

Can't wait to see what wheels you pick out. I respect how you've only had the car a week, and you're already modding it and looking at more mods. You're a true car guy!

Nice trade! Similar to my recent Focus but in way better condition! Happy Modding!

[welcome] to FF! [ffrocks]

I love silver Foci! With a lil work that would be a nice ride! check out rockauto for OEM parts as well, you can get a new fender for $30, new foglights for $5 each, etc. Have you thought about lowering it any, since you gotta change the struts anyway!Even if you don't want to lower it much or at all, I would recommend the SVT suspension setup from CFM(it would only drop your down another .5 inch):

Yeah I'm definitely looking at that SVT kit, but I would like to get that kit and the other thing I need then do both repairs/swaps at the same time. I wish I could remember the name of that assembly in the rear... something with a bushing. I am pretty excited for wheels, but they may have to wait quite awhile. I would prefer some black wheels, but we'll see what happens [:)~]

Welcome to the forum sir! Your car looks very clean. It seems to be a great car to start from! I see someone debadged it already as well.
