propa noob with a focus.

hello people, I have bought myself a focus 1.6. It has the ford rds5000 eon radio, which is multi cd changer compatable, where the multi changer would be fitted under the front pass seat.
I have an old clarion changer that has a 13 pin din plug.
Under the seat is a large square connector with some wires going to it but not filling up all the spaces in that connector.I have googled and found the pics but no answers to what it is.

First question how do i plug the 13pin din to the radio, I haven't took it out yet but googled images and see it doesn't have a din connection.
Second question, What is that square plug for.
Thanks for your help.
Oh and where is it posible to buy a brush box for my alternator as the shop wants to recon the lot and all i want is to replace brushes.
Thank you

The connector under the seat is for heated seats, airbags in the seat, and motor adjustable seat if fitted.
I dont think there is any cables in the car for the CD changer, I think you have to add an iso adapter, but not sure

For CD problem take a visit to Halfords their spot on with advice. As nilskje pointed out you will possibly require a new adaptor.

Should find plenty of brush sets (and even old alternators lol) on ebay depending on alternator type or go to one of the local scrappies and simply replace the whole thing....

thanks, sounds like easy fixes. My local car shop tests and refurbs alternators for 40 and won't sell brush box. But if the brush box costs say 10 i'd rather just change it myself.

No probs......just remember to check your auxiliary belt before removing it.........some focus were fitted with an elastic drive belt (no auxiliary belt tensioner ) and it needs to be cut off and replaced not like a normal drive belt. As yours is a 2001 you should be ok but still worth a check.

I was changing a cam belt and tensioner on a 1.6 at the weekend and the drive belt was elastic.....it's a pain to put on.
