I hate this car
Hi my name is Niel and I made this account because I am fed up with this car, if it was mine I would put several 12ga holes in it.
Soo here is the story of the 2001 ford focus se 2.0 -My mom calls me up and says she has a check engine light - I pull the codes and get EGR and DPFE codes - I open the hood and there is oil everywhere - Replace the EGR DPFE and Valve cover seal - Car Runs for 2 days then she starts it and it dies after 2seconds The car just cranks and won't start, there is no fuel and no spark, my buddy said it might be the crank sensor or the cam sensor....... anyone got any ideas? |
No fuel or spark sure sounds like crank sensor.
|
Going to replace the easy cam sensor first, hope it is not the crank
|
Why?
Do you know what the Cam Sensor controls? Advice has been given twice that it could be a Crank Sensor, which I also say it could be. I don't understand why you come here looking for advice then willfully ignore it. Where did all this oil come from? Maybe it's the root cause? A VC gasket isn't going to cause "oil everywhere". |
What engine do you have? Is it a "Split Port Injection" engine?

I had a crapload of problems with mine when I bought it, but that was because the previous owner thrashed it. Didn't find that out til later. By and large, these are pretty reliable cars. I know it doesn't take the sting away though, because I've been in your shoes :/
And trust me. I've come extremely close to taking the Benelli out to the carport with some 3" 00 buck. But, like I said, that was due to the previous owner (and a bad mechanic) |
Other than routine maintance on my 02 ZTS my ride has been flawless. 165,000. miles and still on the original timing belt. I believe in that Sea Foam for emission control.
