Rough Idle + Timing Belt question
So I'm about to do the timing belt on my wagon - 150k looks like its never been done. Any suggestions as to which kit is good, and where to get it from? i found a good kit on the Bay but it was for a SOHC. Id like to get a kit with a waterpump as well. Anyone have a good recommendation? Thanks.
Also, the car is idling rough, especially at a stop, and ESPECIALLY if i turn the fan on (ac or heat) - I'm thinking its motor mounts but any other suggestions. thanks |

If it's a zetec
Gates TCK294B Kit from RockAuto Don't forget the %5 discount code (search the site) I got the water pump (bosch) locally at pepboys because it comes with lifetime warranty from them. Don't forget the serpentine belt and get new pulleys (2) at the same time. |
Check your pcv hose behind the intake manifold for cracks or cave in at the elbow. My 2004 zetec se with 155000 miles had a smashed elbow and a 1.5" long slit in it causing a rough idle and check engine light. I would also recommend the gates timing belt kit. When I did my timing belt I also purchased a water pump and thermostat housing. Advance auto had it in stock with a lifetime warranty and you can find good coupon codes online. The last thing I would recommend is that timing belt special tools. They can be found on amazon for a little over $20 and that makes the job much easier. Good Luck.
