not so stock transmission issues

so i noticed something rather interesting the other day when i was gettin on the throttle with the transmission...
i took off from first pretty quick (no tire spin, was wet)
shifted from first to second no problem around 6500 rpm's with a bit of wheel spin
got up to about the same in second (6500)
went to shift from second to third and had the clutch mashed to the floor and it was grinding to get into third so i forced it
let out from the clutch then car started acceleration by itself
punched the clutch again and it immediatly revved to limiter
i then press the throttle and it came down from a pinned rev...

what the hell is going on...ill post internals of the tranny when the guy i bought it off of answers me back
i know it has a LSD, fidanza flywheel, stage ? clutch, and 4:06 final in it
i dont know brands but it isnt stock the second previous owner had it on a turbo set up so im guessing the clutch is the culprit here, and i really dont want to replace it this soon. i just got the trans put in, in july, so yea let me know thanks dudes

Not a trans issue.

That acceleration issue sounds like a stuck throttle cable. But the grinding might be a clutch thing. Although I am pretty sure that is just an MTX-75 issue... Mine will do that every now and then...

care to explain...

The transmission can not make the engine hold or raise RPM. That requires power, which a transmission can not create.

As stated, throttle cable issue or something engine related.
Bad TPS or collapsed PCV tube would be the common ones.

sgtsmasher 10-05-2012 03:29 PM

ok that makes, then why is it that the trans wouldnt go into gear this time while getting on it but every other time it has????

Minchkin 10-05-2012 03:45 PM

I still believe that this is a trans issue. Specifically a MTX-75 issue. Whenever you want to have fun and go to third with some force, it refuses. I think it is related to my issue with it refusing to go into reverse when cold. But before you do more spirited driving, I would check out that TPS and your vac lines to ensure that it doesn't do that again. But as far as the transmission, it is as durable as the sun, but it has flaws still.

(And that grinding issue has made me look like an ass before. Lol. I have said, "that's a trans issue". They think I am a bad driver....)

Yes the grind/lockout is a trans issue.
The syncro's can't match speed fast enough at high RPM. Using a lower viscosity fluid helps.
I run 5w-30 motor oil and shift without issue @8,000RPM.
The thinner fluid allows the syncro's to catch up faster, less resistance.

You use motor oil in your transmission? Color me confused... But I don't remember it having this issue before I asked my dealer to switch out the transmission fluid...

As for OP, did this answer any questions?
