Bogging/Hesitation

Hey guys, just signed up as I bought my first SVT Focus on Saturday. It has a bogging/hesitation in any gear at a low RPM until 3,500-4,000 RPM's. I just changed the bad Upstream O2 sensor and little difference. It is throwing a MAF code. Would a bad MAF have a factor into play with this problem? Any help is appreciated.

Yes it would, clean it with MAF cleaner only or replace it.

Oh and welcome to FF!!

Rule of thumb that I use is that anytime I'm replacing something under the hood to disconnect the NEG battery cable while I'm doing the work . That way it resets your ECU to relearn the new parameters . After the work is done put the NEG battery cable back on , start the car let it idle until the motors at operating temperature . Then if its possible take it out for at least a 20 minute drive that way the ECU relearns the Air Fuel ratio along with your driving style.

This is an inherent "flaw" in the SVT. A tune will take care of it, basically eliminate the bog you feel in low RPMs. A bad MAF would make it really bad, but a relatively normal bog in low end is... well, normal.

Sorry for the late response, I cleaned the MAF, it was as black as my tires. Some MAF cleaner brightened it right up. Cleared the code, and still had a Bog/Hesitation. CEL came back on. I replaced the MAF, and all problems are solved. Runs like a champ.

I 2nd that. ^^^^^^^ And I'd add a cfm Throttle body too.

Looking back, a tune on an N/A svt is not worth the money. You would probably see similar or better improvement from a lightweight flywheel and udp. Some will say there are no gains from a udp, especially on a dyno. But when I put mine in, it felt like I turned my AC off.
