SVT header questions
 
What all should come with when I buy it? flexpipe? cat? <--- whats a flexpipe? whats a catalytic converter? anyone got pics of SVT headers, flex, and cat?
What should I be paying for one?
How/Where can I get it cleaned up into perfect like-new shape?
I think I want to wrap it. Good idea?

If I did wrap it, if i used white, would it be paintable?
Any good brand names for heatwrap? differences in quality? brands?
I was just gunna hit eBay...

It's header not headers, you only need one.

If you were to try to buy all this new, it would be a lot more expensive.

Definitely wrap it, if you need a place to clean up a header, I would go to a local exhaust shop.

Sorry used to my V6 which has 2 headers.

You need the header, cat, and flex pipe, a new oil dipstick, and a new power steering line (or will need to bend the old line), probably should either wrap the header or buy a new heat shield.

You'll also need to get a new egr bung welded in and iirc will need to extend the egr sensor wire.

You can run without the egr but will throw a check engine light and not be legal in states that do emissions testing.

The flex pipe is a flexible pipe that connects to your exhaust.

Catalytic converter is a pipe filled with precious metals that reacts to your exhaust gas when it flows through it, and converts some of the pollutants in the exhaust to less harmful substances.

Be prepared to have to cut out some of the old, rusted bolts, take and make sure you have a torch on hand. I'd buy some new stainless ones.

You can also ceramic coat the header. Looks awesome But that costs $$$.

Also If you ever have plans on going turbo don't buy a header. You'll just end up taking it off later.

With a the parts you need you are reasonably looking at between $500 - $1000 for everything. For maybe 15whp.

If I was still modding my zetec I'd probably just save up for a jrsc or used turbo kit. Or go n20.
