weird transmission

What do you guys think about this automatic trans? its not very smooth at times, and i feel like the break is linked to the idle some how as well. like if you stop on a hill and slowly let the break out a little, it will roll back, and if you let the break out all the way, it will pull forward. I haven't noticed this in any other car except the 2012 focus. How do you feel about it?

You know, I personally love that Ford has been on the cutting edge of several technologies. The DCT (not first, but first to a mass market compact, or a close second if you count the VWs), MFT, self-parking, city stop feature, you name it. Being on the cutting edge means breaking a few eggs here and there, but they will be rewarded in the long run and I applaud them for being gutsy and trying.

If Ford were "Gutsy" ,they would do like GM and Saturn did a few years ago when they had a 30 days full satisfaction warranty.New tech is good when it,s done right. When it's sold half baked ,it's the customer who's stuck with the bill when things go wrong.

It is not an automatic, it is a computer automated dual clutch six speed manual transmission. Nothing weird about that. Weird is expecting it to act like a hydromatic fluid torque converted auto. Just search DCT and you will find months worth of reading on the subject, including everyone's gripes, misunderstandings, and mechanical issues/failures.

this is my point exactly. The dealer doesn't explain any of this so i assumed it was a normal automatic. i just did a lot of reading about the DCT and now am a lot more aware of how it works. But im still curious about what other people think of this. There seems to be a lot of positives and negatives about it.

I'm going to strangle someone. Another DCT thread? REALLY? REALLY? Reaaaaaaly? Can we PLEASE have a designated DCT thread so I don't have to read this blasphemy from uneducated drivers.

I'm not going to fight via Internet. All I'm saying is this is a very discussed topic which is covered many of times in other threads.
