Here is some visual representation of where it happened. 114st just north of Uni Ave. Just near that parking lot and before the first crosswalk.

Crosswalk lights were NOT on, speed limit is 50km/h as usual. The left lane when it happened (830 monday morning) was backed up all the way, people always looking to turn left up ahead and all that. Right lane however was completely open all the way till the blood clinic to make the turn into the hospital, where I was heading anyways. So as I am going, I see no indication of anyone wanting to make a turn. I don't see a car sticking into the lanes to make one. It all looked clear to me, obviously that wasn't the case as that van was already creeping into the left lane looking to turn into the right. Sad part for him is that I owe [:)][:)][:)][:)] all to people wanting to make a turn. I don't need to yeild to them or give them priority. I continue on with my drive and he can make is his turn after traffic passes. He assumed the right lane would be clear and went for it. I was near that blue sign, maybe a bit further past that, I couldn't tell at the moment. Either way I tried braking and turning into the parking lot but there wasn't enough room to do it and here we are today.

6 or so hours on the phone with claims for the car and for injury, a sleepless night because I'm stressed and I can't really lie down properly without hurting, waiting for the insurance company to send the forms so I can go do the injury assessments, praying they can fix the car since it looked worse on the inside than it does on the out; shit.

Small consolation is that my car falcon punched the hell out of that moron.

I'm really sorry about your car. We should never forget that we're all surrounded by idiots driving minivans. And SUVs. And cars. And Buses. And......

That really sucks. Did your airbags deploy?

I swear, this color is cursed. [:(]

She was a pretty car! Hope they can fix it! Falcon punch [giddy]!

I'm shocked the other driver didn't get a ticket on the spot. I swear the [:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)]g cops here. Too concerned with being impartial instead of just dealing out justice like they should. Even if they handed me one, hell they should've done something.

Nope, no deployment. I was at 50 when I saw the van. I'm not sure how much I managed to slow down before impact.

I enjoyed it once I went over the pictures today

That sucks, that is more or less how my last car was totaled.

cbdallas 07-11-2012 02:58 PM

He shoulda got a Fail to Yield. They sure would've handed me one if I'd pulled out in front of someone.

I am more appalled he didn't.

It wasn't like this was a controlled intersection with lights, this was the people going straight get full priority and you just wait till the traffic is clear to make your turn.

I might bring this up with the police because it concerns me that he wasn't ticketed. Screw the impartial policy they have - that was flat out dangerous.

If there were people there? I don't want to think about that.

And I think I only hit him at 30-35, clearly didn't have the time or space to slow down fully; and this is the damage caused to the cars and personally I'm hurting. I can't imagine if I hadn't had time to turn the wheel or stop.

damn, that sucks. I hope the insurance company does not dick around and handles business so that you can get both you and the car fixed

Don't settle for second best repair from your insurance. Demand it be done right!

Sorry to hear about the accident! Get your medical exams done ASAP. Stuff like this can cause issues down the road. Trust me.
