Which rubber?

Hey guys, who feels like criticizing me / recommending course of action? I'm still trying to figure out the optimal things to run for wheels and tires this season. I'll list the relevant stuff, skipping winters and things.

Wheels
(8) OE Ford, 16x6 +52.5
(2) OE Ford, 15x6 +52.5
(3) Team Dynamics Pro Race 1, 15x7 +45
(3) Team Dynamics Pro Race 2, 16x7 +45 *

Tires
(4) 205/50/16 Dunlop Star Spec Z1 with ~2/32" and corded inner shoulders
(4) 205/55/16 Dunlop Star Spec Z1 with ~5/32"
(4) 225/50/16 Hankook Z214 C71 with a couple small spots of cord, ok for ~10-15 runs
(?) 205/50/15 RE-11, ~2/32" (3 for sure, maybe 4, not sure if the 4th is usable)
(4) 205/50/16 Continental ExtremeContact DW with ~7/32 *

*Can easily obtain

Am also eyeballing steel Diamond racing 15x8 wheels for less than $100 each... eventually probably wind up running those in FSP. But am going to play around in STF for now, I guess, until I get another Torsen (Except obviously when using up the Z214's I will run FSP... maybe I should wait to run those if I think I will get a Torsen before the end of the year?)

Currently all 8 starspecs are on 16x6, and winters are on 15x7 and 15x6. Should I autocross on...

All: 16x6 with 2/32" 205/50 SS
All: 16x6 with 5/32" 205/55 SS
All: 16x6 with 225/50 Z214

Front: 15x7 with RE11, Rear: 15x6 with RE-11 (if the 4th RE-11 holds air)
Front: 15x7 with RE11, Rear: 16x6 with 2/32" 205/50 SS
Front: 15x7 with RE11, Rear: 16x6 with 5/32" 205/55 SS

Front: 16x7 with Z214, Rear: 15x7 with RE-11
Front: 16x7 with Z214, Rear: 16x6 with 2/32" 205/50 SS
Front: 16x7 with Z214, Rear: 16x6 with 5/32" 205/55 SS

I bolded the lines I am most likely going to use... Using any of these options, I can daily drive the 5/32 SS on 16x6... although maybe I should switch those off and use the DW's for DD, since they are a better DD tire.

Oh also, if anyone wants any of the stuff I listed, let me know. I'm not emotionally attached to any of these items, and would most likely sell/trade whatever you may be interested in.

The RE-11s are great. Why not the Hankook RS3s ... if you don't mind me asking.

Yes I know the RE-11's are great - I ran on those 205/50/15's all last season

and I would love to run a set of RS-3's, but I don't have any, and tires cost money! Eventually I would like to run 225/45/15 RS-3's on some 15x8 or 15x9 wheels. However, this thread is about how I should best use up the supply of old rubber I already have.

Throwing them all away and buying new RS-3's is a valid opinion, though, I suppose [thumb]

It sounds like he has a pile of tires, and is trying to figure out what to run this year.

wrc_fan 03-15-2012 03:16 PM

Run these, and find a tire guy to flip the tires for you.
All: 16x6 with 2/32" 205/50 SS

They say run this sidewall outside on them, but just at an autox *shrug*

I have access to a manual tire changer, and already mounted the 2/32" 205/50 SS how I would run them to race. The worn out edges were on the outer front, so I flipped and rotated, now that bad edge is on inner rear.

Anyway those are what are currently mounted on my car, trying to get a feel for how much grip they have while driving to work and back (historically this hasn't helped much at all, the track is so much different than the street, but I'm still doing it)

This is the 2/32" 205/50 SS on 16x6 with 15mm spacer up front:

Ignore my ill-fitting body panels.

Oh sorry ... I thought you were asking for what to get next ... My fault.

No worries... and that's the same answer I've landed on for "what next" [thumb]

Either stay in STF, buy Rota 15x7.5 + 40 and 225/45/15 RS3,
or go to FSP, buy Diamond steel 15x8 and 225/45/15 RS3, and a Torsen

However I am not able to spend that money right now, so yes I am trying to figure out how to best consume what I've got left!
