Exhaust question
 
So I just purchased an Ansa Silverline catback exhaust on Ebay, and I LOVE it. Great sound, and I prefer quieter exhausts so it works really well for me. My question is if I do a Zetec swap, can the exhaust stay? Im not sure if the flex pipe would be different, I cant see why, but you gotta love how unnecessarily complicated things can get! Also, if this question has been answered before, I'm sorry, but I couldn't find it

take it to a muffler shop... they can weld/cut/bend what ever you need to make it fit...

Oh, I have a question. My wife and I are in a decent position financially, so I'm trying to decide if I should rebuild the SPI or go with everyone else and do the Zetec/Duratec swap. It seems as though if I dropped the same amount on rebuilding the SPI as I would on doing the swap I could get a decent engine out of it. I only have 55K on my car stock, so I'm in no hurry, but I would love to get some more power in this car. How much hp could I get out of this engine. Seeing as how the SPI comes stock with 110hp, and over the years it seems to lose a lot of that(referencing the dyno thread with ZX3_Chick's old focus that had a decent amount of mods yet only pushed 97hp, although it was an auto) I'm wondering if it's a lost cause. Thanks for tolerating the n00b questions, I appreciate it.

stock zx3 = 130hp to the crank... thats like 100-105 to the wheels depending of the weather conditions.

more aftermarket support for the zx3 when compared with the spi and responds better to mods. plus its not a time bomb...

Yeah, I guess I was figuring that if I swapped out the internals that it would no longer be a time bomb, so it was more of a question of HP. Maybe I'm wrong though

i dont know much about the spi... but i think the problem is not with the internals... its with the head... someone correct me if im wrong

Yeah, sorry for my improper usage of the term, the valve seat is the ticking time bomb part everyone refers to. I was trying to generalize and say that I would swap out EVERYTHING, but I guess just the word internals to me means everything you cannot visibly see in the engine.
