Putting a cone filter on stock intake

I was wondering if anyone knows what size cone filter fits on the stock air intake. If so is there anything else i would need to take of/replace in doing so other than the filter box?

Any info would be amazing

are you saying your gonna take stock box off and put filter if so you have to consider whats going to hold the filter and water getting in from under the car

what will hold the filter : a Clamp holding it to the MAF tube

and if water is getting on the filter the least of your worries is hydrolock, your main fuse/relay box would be soaked and your battery. i can't see how water would get there anyways unless you drove the car into a lake or without a hood.

Yea i would take the box off but it would still be sitting on top if where the stock filter/box is so there wouldn't be water getting to it... but my main question is would that be just as useful as buying a short ram intake with the se style filter on it

I believe a 3.25'' end is what I used

you might need a rubber coupler to connect the filter. i'm not positive though, i haven't done it yet. i am looking into installing it in the summer.

yeah, FC used to have a kit that incorporated a 3.25" cone filter and stand for the filter.

Did you notice much of a difference over stock just by putting on the cone filter?

what I did was use the spectre filter that had a few different sizes with it and found the right one to fit. pretty easy to do and cheap.

if you still have the factory snorkel on it, I would leave the bottom half of the box mounted and then you have a little more air going to the filter.

I did that to my old zx3. worked like a charm had no issues other than the vibration fro the motor made it hit the plastic piece separating it from the battery.
