How to turn off traction control? S model

I want to know how to turn off the traction control, when needed, on my 2012 Focus S.
Dealer has yet to find out, and the manual has vague mention of message center location, yet to find it.
thanks
Bill

Ok, thats what I was afraid of. Hope it doesn't stop me from making up steep hills in the snow. I need to spin a little sometimes to make it to the top.

Try parking brake pulled so the light comes on or try low gear. Unless you have a manual.
You could take out the fuse for traction control

I'm not sure that is universally true. It may be true for the automatic, and it may be true in Canada, but the new Focus is not strictly the "World Car" Ford professes it to be. I think removing the fuse might do it, if it is dedicated to TC only, and not linked to something important, such as ABS. I'm very happy to have the ability to turn my TC off in the snow, although once I install my Quaife, it will be moot.
Good luck, and keep us posted.

I was thinking about the fuse route on my way to work. Or is there a wire I can cut and place an on off switch? Like the one that is at the fuse? And yes it is a manual.

I have a selection on my mft in the dash to turn off the TC, but since it has a torque sensing Diff, it kind of always has a form of TC lol

From the Owner's Manual...

Quote:

Switching off traction control
If the vehicle is stuck in snow, mud or sand, and seems to lose engine power, switching off the traction control feature of the AdvanceTrac system may be beneficial because the wheels are allowed to spin. This will restore full engine power and will enhance momentum through the obstacle.

The traction control system can be turned off through the message center. See Message center in the Instrument Cluster chapter for more information. If you switch off the traction control, the stability control off light will illuminate steadily. Selecting traction control on will turn off the stability control off light.
Then we flip to Message Center...

Settings
Driver Assist Traction Ctrl On or Off
Hill Start On or Off
Rear Park Aid On or Off
So apparently using the toggle on the left side of the steering wheel, you use the left arrow to get to the "settings" menu, then select one of the above options and turn it on or off? I'll try it later today and see what happens. [:p]

Okay, how about a step-by-step how to turn it off then? [cheers]

On the left steering wheel control, push the left arrow, screen does this:

Scroll down to "Settings" and push OK

From "Settings" choose "Driver Assist"

Then in that menu you will see "Traction Control"

It should already have a check mark in the square (default is ON), click okay and the check mark goes away and shows you this:

Your traction control is now off. Repeat steps above to turn it back on. [thumb]

FYI, each time you restart the car it will default back to the ON setting. [cheers]
