Turbo SPI Who's is it?
 

Don't know how i found it but looks nice !
i would love to go turbo, just to show the spi does have some potential !

sounds like its got some issues. knocking like a diesel at the end. i still may boost my spi got almost all the parts to do it. id say rough estimate if its at like 10 psi it should be around 170 hp and 200 torque the spis can make enough power to haul ass in stock trim+ a turbo kit but as with anything using stock internals on an fi application its all in the tune

the term turbo kit is used loosely there is no "kit" for spis

Yeah it looks nice, but it looks like that engine will not last long [wrenchin] with that tapping sound does not sound good....

wonder what size the turbo is... you may be right assuming it's decently sized. the sohc mazda has 4 extra intake valves and .2 liters on the SPI, and makes around 175hp and 240tq on stock turbo at 10 PSI. Really curious what a T3/T4 would do to it.

[nono]. first off a zetec with the same turbo kit as the spi has would have maybe 20 more horsepower and 20 less torque than the spi, just remember horsepower sells cars torque wins races. and that knocking you hear has absolutely nothing to do with it being an spi so go do your homework. if it was a valve seat it would sound nastier than that, the knocking is most likely from a poor tune. and i was being very conservative with my estimate spis can make damn respectable power with the stock motor boosted, if it didnt i wouldnt have even considered building mine. ". also how do you know how much money he has into it? ive got damn near everything ready to bolt on to turbo my spi and geussing from the top of my head im under a grand including a atx to ib5 swap . jeffescortlx made 212hp and 262 torque on a spi and that was on pump gas andwith the 1 7/8 exhaust with the 3 inch turbo back and e85 he was probably closer to 250-260 hp and 300 torque if you ask me in a car that started with 90whp thats a little better than some potential seeing as that was stock internals and cheap engine management.not meaning to sound like a dick but so many people are uneducated and just spout off about the little spi without having any understanding of it. they have one major problem valve seats which can be remedied cheaply then the spi would be just as reliable as a zetec[boxface]

or instead of pulling the head to "fix" it do what most people do and pull the engine and drop in a zetec.... and i would pay decent money to see a streetable spi making 260whp lol. Im not bagging a spi but do the homework and you wont buy one to start with

nothing wrong with that at all... not too hard of a number to get but no one has really bothered.

Dont think Ive seen one with a proper tune yet.
