17 vs 18 inch wheels and tire size???

If I go with 18 inch, can I fit a 225/40/18 without rubbing? Any recommendations?

Posted via FF Mobile Thats the size that I had on mine and its lowered with the frpp suspension. I would rub going over certain humps in the roads that you couldn't see then I ended up putting some 215-35-18 tires on and no rubbing at all.

Alot of the fitment depends on the offset and width of the rim. Typically people run a 215/35/18 as Slayer mentioned.

As mentioned rim width and offset are key fitment criteria but if you have a drop they become critical fitment issues!

I had 35 series on mine but I bent the lips up on basically all my wheels, so went to a 225 40. It rubs but I'll deal with it. Rolled fenders up it's not to bad, make sure you do if your really low I skinned about 10 inches off the side off my tire when I turned into a drive that went up hill

I've been running 215/35r18 tires for about 2 years and have driven over some serious bumps that I thought would have bent my rims and it never did. I think that has more to do with the quality of wheels not the tires necessarily. I am riding on the Eibach Pro Kit and have not had any troubles with rubbing. Oh yeah the rims that I am running ar 7.5" wide and have an offset of 45mm. Hope this info helps.

This is very helpful. I am considering buying 18s and needed a little direction for the offset. 45mm was a good fit with the fenders?

Pic is kinda dark but you should be able to see fitment.

Wheels

I am new to this forum and new to the focus. I purchased a 2012 se 5 door about a week ago. I have the dreaded 16" steel wheels with hub caps on them. YUCK!! I have been looking at the Motegi MR116 but have no idea if I should go with 18 or 17 inch wheels. I think I would like the 18" look but I really do not want to sacrifice the ride. My gut keeps telling me 17's but I am worried they will not look like I expext them to. Any advice? I have never owned a little car like this so it is all new to me. Thanks in advance. [scratch]

The advice given in this thread was specifically for '00-11 Focus, as we have different wheel/tire fitment than you would with your '12+.

You already posted here but look at the pictures and the size wheels/tires folks are running. Search other threads out as well

Going larger usually involves sacrificing some ride quality and sidewall, you just need to decide where you want to compromise. I think 17's and 18's both look good on the new Focus
