spark plug and oil issue?
I went to check my spark plugs and seen oil on the ring of where the plug comes out as well as on the spark plug boot. I was told I need a new valve cover gasket, cause some oil is noticable on the outside of the valve cover as well. Is this true for both issues? Also what causes those two issues is it anything major I should fix like asap? cause the oil isnt on the actual tip of the plug, but was on the plug and outer ring where you go to untighten them.

Will only get worse. May cause the plug to misfire.

the valve cover gasket is indeed the issue and needs to be replaced. i would get it done at a place that offers a warranty....
if it is not replaced sooner than later, the issue may compound and you may start having thermostat housing problems |
is this normal for that to happen in these cars? also since u said a warrant to cover it im assuming its expensive to replace the gasket or no?

I'm coming across the same problem...
The valve cover gasket costs about $40 and then to change it doesn't look all that difficult. |
what would the effects be if it caused the thermostat housing to go bad, cause I have been having overheating issues here and their not constantly though.

Me too! Found oil in two. If Chris said, "it doesn't look difficult." Then, I should be able to replace the valve cover gasket. Sounds like fun. wink
Let's see what Autozone have there. Replaced valve cover gasket that Autozone did have. All is well. |
