SVTF representing at local autocross

Second time autocrossing the SVTF locally, and I'm having a blast with it. It outhandles my 2008 GTI without any doubt. Running on summer tires, and no modifications except for a catback exhaust and a short shifter.

Here are the best lap times:

Only FWD with better times are the CRXs. One had slicks with two drivers (two times for that one), and the other one was just real quick.

One of these bad boys actually got a slower time than me.

Here's a video of the Miata that was running behind me, you can see glances of the focus in front:

Nice job! [thumb]
Where's the pic of your car in the grid though??? [;)]

Must be running ST class? (short throw shifter)

Aguilar 03-04-2009 05:36 PM

I was told I'd be running in the GS class, but I have yet to figure out how the classes work.

No pictures this time, but got some from last time. :)

^^^There we go. Cool!

Short throw shifter:
Legally...
The short throw puts you in ST, but I wouldn't worry about it if no one is complaining.
If you ask me, it should be allowed in stock class anyway.
Here's the rule:
Quote:

14. STREET TOURING CATEGORY
14.10 ENGINE AND DRIVETRAIN
G. Any mechanical shift linkage may be used.
Basically, if it's not specifically listed in the rules, it's not allowed.
And, there isn't any allowance in the stock class for shift linkage.

And again, nice job!
You beat a lot of cars that had a good deal more modifications.

Thanks. I might go back to the stock shifter after all. Better driving, not faster shifting, will lower my time. ;)

Nice time... Which region are you in?

steve35svt 03-04-2009 08:32 PM

Nice car and driving. Watching this gives me hope spring is coming after all!

Buccaneer Region.

The last autocross was a test-n-tune, so they didn't really record the times, but I ended up with a better time than my buddy with the 2001 Audi TT (4WD, 260hp). This time he got me by .4s.

I love the Test and tunes and the Schools.. Lots of fun seat time

Indeed. They had the longest slalom and a few fast sprints.

I'll be attending a driver's school later this month, but I'll be taking the GTI to that one. It's going to be at Roebling road so I'm going to need a little bit more power to keep up on the straight (GTI has ~240whp). I'm actually looking for a camera solution so I can record the driving.
