So my friend is trying to get me into doing a few autox events with him. He is driving a new mustang that's all tricked out. I guess my question is how would a focus SVT hold up in that kind of competition? Or would I get laughed out of the place because it's a fwd?

here is a pic of h is ride at the last event....

An SVT Focus at an auto-x? Thats insane! They would laugh there asses of at you! This thing is an econo box. What do you think it was designed for? Auto-x racing. Pshh.

You wouldn't race in the same class. BTW the above post was sarcasm lol

[cheers] Thanks for getting that.[race]

A stock SVT focus is very competitive in it's class. I say go for it. You'll be hooked.

i guess i asked because i went with him.. and did not see any other FWD cars out there.. just seems like RWD cars would do beter...

Last year I raced a 2007 roush stage 2 supercharged mustang GT in street modified....

and beat him by a full second.

granted, my car is a bit faster than an SVT, and I have a torsen differential. But if youre a good driver you should be able to handle your friend.

Remember, a lot of times it comes down more to the driver than the car. autocross is all about experience.

depending on the course, fwd usually pwns.

the svt was designed for autoX, everything from the gear ratios to the suspension set-up is optimized for short tight twisty tracks

Moved to "Autocross Racing".

<<<See my avatar...yes, the SVTF does just fine in AutoCross. [;)]

Power an Rwd is not going to get you anywhere with out grip from the tires an a suspension, The focus is a really hard car to beat in autox.

well i guess i had better get some better springs for mine.. when i got it it had lowering springs on it. it looks great.. but in tight turns the tires rub. so if i am going to race it i should get it as close to stock as possible... or maybe find something that will be better than the 2 inch drop that is on there right now.
