White Face Glow Gauges Help!
http://images.channeladvisor.com/Sel.../1/RIG-280.jpg
So if I got these, would I just stick them in there and then at night they would light up like the bottom part of the picture with no additional work? Just throw it over the stock one and leave the stock bulbs in? Help is appreciated, and +Rep will be given out |
You will need to keep the bulbs in for the needles to light up, so yes, you'll leave the bulbs in place. You'll need to tap the power wire into one of your fuses (i'll look up which one), or your cig lighter works too, and then find a good ground. There's a bolt on the fuse box you can use.

Okay, so the stock bulbs that are in there will give that bright blue effect? Or does this come with something that lights the new face up?

i have these. it has a wire attached that u have to connect to a 12v power source, and then another u have to ground. incredibly simple installation =)

It's cool though, because I wasn't sure at first either. So I took the bulbs out when I first installed it and my needles didn't light up. DOH! So I had to uninstall it and put the bulbs back in. I've probably taken that thing apart 5 times since then too. Also, careful when installing them. The best method is to weave the needles through the holes. It's tedious and requires patience. I took the hard route and popped my needles off. Then had to use the test mode to get some of the gauges calibrated again: http://www.focushacks.com/index.php?modid=13, and here's the How-To on getting the rest calibrated but I can't seem to find it. However, my fuel gauge still reads wrong but not by much so I use the mileage and fuel light to judge when I'm really low on gas. lol And here's even more info if you like: http://www.focushacks.com/index.php?q=type&v=int |
I've got a similar set, got mine from eBay too. They go right over your stock gauge face without removing the needles (although mine were trouble and I had to remove mine) then like said above, you tap into your power wire for the stock gauges behind your headlight switch; or you can choose to turn them on when you want by tapping into the constant power wire. They're very bright at night, a little hard to get used to, lol. But you'll like them.
