1/4 miles- Slightly modified 06 zx5ses v. stock 02 lancer oz rally

by specs they are very close...

focus-

136 HP SAE @ 6,000 rpm; 133 ft lb @ 4,500 rpm

lancer-

120 HP @ 5,500 rpm; 130 ft lb @ 4,250 rpm

Both are auto, focus has intake & exhaust.... lancer is bone stock.

I think the focus will win but everyone around here is putting money on the lancer.. what do you guys think?

Ill let you guys know thursday who wins.

Focus for sure, intake and exhaust on top of the stock 136hp will overpower him.

Dubbs005 07-21-2007 10:09 AM

lancers ARE SLOW!!!! you got this

rockthezx3 07-21-2007 11:02 AM

You'll take him easy.

jwh172 07-21-2007 11:50 AM

there's one in my town as well, but "he doesn't race" even though the first time i saw his car he was revving at me.

um the focus for sure, my slightly modded spi took one, all i had was wires custom sri and springs, and i held with him and won at the end and thats the 8v 110hp 130tq engine, you got him no sweat

08 Lancer against me @ local strip, I have drag muffler and CAI and thats it. WARNING: look away if you love a Lancer, this is hurtful.

Its a girl driving... so ill beat HER

both auto..

what other advantages would i have? Should i just leave it in D and put it to the floor? or should i shift 1 2 D and push out each gear?

ineedtafocus 07-21-2007 04:36 PM

leave it in D and let the ecu do the shifting, it knows when to shift, otherwise you might hold it in 1 or 2 for too long and it might slow your momentum.

Nightm4re 07-21-2007 05:05 PM

yeah but the ECU shifts for gas mileage (its not tuned)

so if i know when to shift (by feeling it) would it give me any noticeable gains in speed?
