Cruise Control | '02 & '04 Differences
 
I think I see a difference between the cruise control setup on my '02 SVT and '04 SVT (both 6-speed manuals).

On the '02, stepping on the clutch while cruise control is engaged results in the engine revving out of control.

On the '04, stepping on the clutch while cruise control is engaged results in immediate disengagement of the cruise control.

Is this a deliberate design/safety improvement ?

I have an 02, and stepping on the clutch almost instantly disengages the cruise, it maybe revs up about 2-300 rpms, that's it

That's strange. It's almost like the '02 issue was an oversight on Ford's part. I can't imagine that being by design.

My 04 ZTS cuts off instantly with clutch.

Maybe mine does that too. I just never let it rev as fast as it wants.
