Turbo Time

Alright guys I finally decided on turbocharging the ST. I found out Focus Sport makes a kit.
http://focussport.com/turbocharger.htm. I was wanting to get some opinions from you guys on some things.
1. Is focussport any good compared to my last encounter with Marcy Motorsports, which I will no longer buy from.
2. What else do you think I should get with the kit. I think im buying the cosworth intake manifold as well.
3. What are some ideas to do with this. I am on a budget some im tryin to spend no more than 4500.
4. What are some of your opinions on the kit? Are there others out there that are better that I dont have to worry about putting a decompression plate or having to cahnge internals. This will still be a daily driver. [thumb]

if you want to turbo the duratec you have to do internals. pistons and rods for sure, but you may also want to see how much you can get a ranger crank for as its supposed to be stronger. i hate to say it but the duratecs are really weak compared to the zetecs that you can boost to 15-16psi or the svt that can see 23+psi.

sounds like itll be a lot of fun once its done. you must give me a ride.

I know of ppl that buy the FS Stg2 kit and dont change internals... if your not gonna change internals, u need to have it tuned for that... if you do buy some aftermarket internals, crank up the boost... this needs to be in the Forced Induction chat just so you know... Ive heard plenty of good things about the FS turbo kit... nothing bad...

well the kit comes with free dyno tune and a free X-cal2
So ill have the tuning. And I dont have to mess with the internals as long as im not going above 16 psi. Which I wont. I knew that much

well you should be fine... im actually planning on going with a similar setup... im getting a built 2.3 and putting a FS Stg2 on it... gonna be a lot of fun...

I would do internals. Anything aboce 9 psi is not good for the stock rods. the fuel delivery system is good for up to 300 horses so I wouldn't worry about that. definately port the head.

daily driven i dont think that you could do above 10psi with the intercooled kit on stock internals. the rods, pistons, and crank are about as strong as tin foil in the duratec. good luck.

The FS kit comes with 42lb injectors anyways...

Most people run on stock internals with Stg2 kit and dont have any problems... I was talking to Randy from FocusSport last night...

i guess the internals are strong than people think

hey if I get any guages what should they be. My work is gettin me a guage pod setup and ive decided on 2 so far boost and fuel pressure. What others ones should I get. These are for diagnosing not not for looks. This way if there is a problems the pids data on the x-cal2 and from the guages I could pinpoint a problem quicker if there is one. I really dont want to bring my car in the shop to use our WDS every time there is a problem if you get what im saying. 15 to 16 psi is the max limit on stock internals. Ive been doin some research before this kit. Talk to several companies on internals and boost limits. Theres more companies than you think that have been working on turbo projects on these cars. Ive talk to cosworth and Ford Racing the most on internal afairs and boost issues. So Im satisfied on the internals right now. I do however need to change my flywheel and clutch after this kit cause I know either my wife or me will burn the clutch up having fun. I think Im going with Cosworth clutch and Flywheel since I get it discount price at my work.
