Go Pro hero 3 black edition.

Hey guys, I have been wanting a go pro for some time now. I have read that the hero 3 tends to freeze up or fry SD cards, is this true? Also My PC dose not have a lot of memory. [my computer is considered to be something out of the Flintstones.] Would that matter? could I just get a hard drive?
Is the Hero 3 black edition simple to use/upload videos? How much better is the black edition compared to the silver edition?

My 2 main concerns are the reliability and how simple it is to upload/edit videos.

Thanks guys!

It's a great upgrade for GoPro.

I have several friends with them. No issues. But i do recommend large SD cards if you want to record for a while. a 32 GB was just under 1 hour.

If you have an older computer ... it may be tough to read the files though. The newer files need a fairly new media reader.

But overall quite nice. It also felt more durable than the last ones. But then again, all of the GoPros are just plain durable. I've seen many drop off of cars at AutoX and still work.

The people having issues may be using cheap, slow memory cards. The camera has to write a lot of data to the card pretty fast. Cheap cards will heat up from this, and heat is the arch enemy of all electronics.

Get a quality memory card with a high speed rating and you'll be just fine. Also, USB card readers are pretty cheap, so accessing your videos on your PC won't be a problem.

I do agree with quality memory cards.

Look into getting the SanDisk products, at the moment the best in the market for card media.
