I wish the good ol t3i had a motion sensor setting.

For taking pictures of those awesome lightning strikes like setting the camera up on the tripod in front of the window on a dark and stormy night LOL!

Try running a long exposure. But don't shoot through the window, imo. Get an umbrella and go outside.

how bout a tripod with an umbrella......I'd have to be using a tripod anyways due to the long exposure correct?

Or something stable to set your camera on, yes. But a tripod would be best.

don't really want too long of an exposure...else you'll get noise and also definition in the surroundings, which you generally don't want...
