What equipment are you using?

I migrated to this part of the site because I thought there would be a lot of discussion on photography, but I see that the majority of topics are Photoshop requests. I decided I would start something up that seemed like a basic thread for a photography section.

So here it is, go ahead and list whatever camera equipment you're using. I would say keep it to cameras/bodies, lenses, flashes, and filters, but if you've got other stuff that you like to use, by all means talk about it. If you edit your pictures, go ahead and mention what programs you use. An interesting bit of information might also be how long you've been into photography. It wouldn't hurt to maybe put a picture or two of yours that you've taken. I'll go ahead and break the ice.

I have an Olympus E-420 (DSLR), and so far the only lens is the 14-42mm f3.5-5.6 zoom lens. The next lens I hope to get is a 35mm f3.5 1:1 macro lens. For now the only tripod I have is the Targus version of the Gorillapod.

I was more or less pushed into the photography world when I got my job as a technical writer for iFixit in April 2010, and during my first week of work they told me, "Here's a brand new iPad 3G, here's a Nikon D90, go make a teardown." Since then I've actually learned a few things about photography, and I purchased my E-420 refurbished from KEH in January of this year (if you don't know about KEH yet, I would highly suggest going to their site, www.keh.com). I want to learn as much as I can and become a better photographer, so I am currently reading Brian Peterson's Understanding Exposure, and I plan to take a digital photography class next fall quarter.

Here are a couple of my favorite shots that I've taken with my E-420:

And, of course, the Focus:

I don't have a Flickr account (yet), but I am on 365 Project. If you would like, you can check that out here.

Hope this catches on!

Ah, I didn't think about anything post-shooting. That's probably because the only time I ever edit photos is at work, and even then we only use PhotoShop Elements. I'm mostly into casual photography for the joy of shooting in the hopes that I'll end up capturing with the camera what I see with my eyes.

Accessories:
Several pieces of Extreme II and III memory cards
Different sizes of Circular Polarizers

With Final Cut Pro and After Effects as my 2 visual editors.

** NOW, all of this equipment is over a 7 year career span ... so I've been collecting equipment over time in being in the Media Field. ** Just so you don't think I got all of this at once ...
