New Camera

So for my birthday I want a nice camera. My parents said around $300. I want a digital SLR but those are too much, So if you all could give me some advice on what the best for that price would be, it would be great. Right now I am lloking at the Fujifilm S2000.

^^ What he said, although my girlfriend has a Sony one and it's very decent.
But I've always known Canon to be a very good brand.

Go look at Staples for an XTi kit, they are around 450$ last I checked (a few months ago). They were put on clearance.. good luck finding one.

Since I'm such an awesome guy, here you go:

Nikon D40 SLR kit (with 18-55 lens): http://www.staples.com/office/supplies/StaplesCategoryDisplay?jspStoreDir=Staples&fromUrl=home&catalogId=10051&productId=171238&cmArea=SEARCH&interceptedCatEntryId=171238&identifier=BI83679&langId=-1&storeId=10001&cmSearchKeyword=678406&ddkey=StaplesProductDisplay
(If it doesn't show up, search for Nikon D40 on staples.com)

Add coupon: 27083 (75$ off)

End price: 374.99$ + shipping + tax.

I bet you could do it.

Listen to him, he is speaking the truth. I shoot a Canon XSI, but it runs around $700. My sister in law shoots the D40 and it takes some great pics. It'll blow away any higher priced non dslr on the market.

How is that XSi? I have an XTi with the stock 18-55, and a Sigma 70-300 macro lens.. feels like a good all around camera.

The xsi is pretty sick. It takes great pics in and out of manual mode. Currently i am only shooting with the 18-55 IS lens, but am looking into getting the 55-250 IS lens. With the extreme III SDHC memory card it takes pictures way fast. It is my first DSLR so i don't have much to compare it to, but the pics are super crisp and all the apeture control lets me get the background how i want it. I give mad props to the IS lens, it really does give me 3 or 4 extra stops. It's amazing what 12.2 MP does for details. Pretty much, i love it. I researched it for like 7 months before buying.
