I thought out of curiousity I'd start a poll to see what kind of mpg everyone is getting. If you are getting around 30+ mpg could you please reply with the things you did or methods used to increase your mpg. I've filled up 3 times so far. The mpg for the tank of gas from the dealership is not accurate as I don't know for sure if the trip miles were on the tank.
Rounded to the nearest 10th.
Fill up---MPG
0---------????
1---------24.4
2---------25.7
3---------Still driving on this tank.
I up shifted a little bit later on fill up #2 (between about 2750 and 3000 rpms vs around 2250 give or take 200 rpms.
Well, the Fiesta is certainly broke-in at nearly 6K miles. Average over the last 3K miles or so is 36.5 by computer or by hand. Not 40mpg like I was hoping for, but this is mixed city/hywy on my Fiesta.
I guess I bought the SFE pkg on my Fiesta for the little green "S" in the logo and the cruise control, doesn't seem like it pushed the mpg up any.
Next time I get a ticket for using an HOV lane, I'll try to show the officer the little green "S", just for laughs.
Figured I'd share this - I had been averaging about 28 +/- 1 mpg highway with my 2000 LX ATX (123k on it). That was driving the speed limit (about 120 miles at 55 mph and about 40 miles at 65 mph) - passing occasionally and not driving too hard once in town. Thanks to the suggestion of another FF (thanks Vexorg) for an issue I was having with my ZTS - I cleaned my TB on the LX with intake cleaner and ran fuel injector cleaner through the tank. My next highway trip (same exact trip, same conditions as above) I avereage 33.5 mpg! Not bad!
I have 2005 SE with 5-speed manual trans. Original owner.
When NEW I got 39.6 MPG highway using cruise control @ 62 MPH. City driving yields 32 MPG. AND, using air conditioning at 62 MPH also yields 32 MPG. Ouch!
Just checked again here Jun 2011 and got astounding 39.4 MPG highway using cruise control @ 62 MPH. (about 15% of those 130 "test" miles were city driving and might have skewed results downward).
Currently have 183,000 miles. Wonderful car and F U N to drive!
Consistantly on the hwy i pull about 38 mpg but most of my mileage is is town and atleast half of that is spent racing or blowing by people in town. so i end up with high 20's if i were to shed my lead foot its in the 30's thats with a Cold air intake and the bosch best sparkplugs but well.. im sure this is all going to change with my engine
I just got a whopping 42 mpg with a 2011 SE with a 5 speed manual! ...was able to go 503 miles on a tank of gas. I've been averaging 35-37 with a high before now of 39.
My normal work commute is through the middle of a small town...35 down to 25mph and 4 stoplights. Then it's up to 45mph on the outside of town with three stop signs about 3-4 miles apart. Total commute is 15 miles one way.
This past week I had to work at another facility...72 miles round trip with about 70% of it 65mph highway.
Worst mileage so far was in middle of winter during a bad week of snow...got 30 mpg.

This is the first time I have checked my MPG and am disappointed with the 22.5 MPG that I got. All city driving, I don't drive it like it's stolen but I don't strive for MPG either. Maybe my foot is heavier than I think...
I'm averaging around 20 with the last 2 tanks. Last one was 19.2 and the one before that was 21.5, although I am running 93 octane with a Jackson racing supercharger and a snow performance methanol injection kit. Supercharger is running 12 lb boost with the stock BBK tune from ford. Running a little rich. This is in a 2003 svt zx3 6MT.
Update: I blame my right foot for the bad mileage. I started to not get into the boost as much if any and get around 22-23 city but got 32 on a 140 mile round trip with the cruise set to 65 with 1/2 the trip carrying a set of 4 rims and tires in the back of the hatch!
I usually end up getting 100-120 miles out of a 1/2 a tank driving around the city. Never use A/C or heat while driving and I always drive with my two front windows down. I have a mixed driving style. Usually keep it under 3k RPM but every now and then I have a lead foot lol.
ok. laugh. i got my car May of last year. i just turned 900 miles. (i kept my old car & use that more. work etc) so i can't be accurate. but the dash thingy says avg 26.? so not too bad.
