A caveat: virtually all of us have had trouble getting one of the struts out of the steering knuckle; for some folks it was the passenger side, for others it was the driver's side. You can try to make life easier for yourself by soaking the strut/knuckle junction & knuckle pinch bolt in your favorite penetrating oil (taking care of course to keep it off of the rotors), but that might not help much.
Also, it makes sense to replace the rear shocks at the same time, with the same brand. The mounting nut might be tack-welded, so keep that in mind if you're tugging on it and cursing the rust.

|Marde||I posted here in post#2. I am sorry, my bad. My remarks at that time were generic comments and I was not thinking about the SVT Focus when I posted. I made a small edit a couple minutes after my post because I saw SVT. Oh well... now waiting for my next screw up... should not be long from now.|

This is the best bang for your buck. With the SVT you have to remember you already have the .5" lowered springs compared to the regular zx3. So any Ford racing kit that is .5" is just your stock suspension and if your springs are in decent condition you don't have to spend the money on it.
If you want to go lower, there are 1.5" spring you can get from ford racing and Steeda most of the other brands start to list 1.75-2.5" which can be more than some want.

Tousley Ford has them listed at $297 and $247 respectively.

|Svteurobw||The svt is a specific shock n strut there different dampening then a reg focus also the stock spring rates are different then a reg focus and the svt is .5" lower then a reg focus. If your looking for just a replacement rather then upgrading then go with a ford racing kit u can get shocks springs for rear and loaded struts for the front for around 300 or they also sell just the struts and shocks but then u need a spring compressor.|

Moved to "Brakes, Suspension & Chassis" for a better fit & more answers.
Best value is the SVT Strut/shock kit if you can find one, they've been closed out and are becoming harder to find.
Otherwise a "basic" performance shock like Koni Orange would be a good replacement.

These are the ones I will buy in the near future->
Here is a video->
Doing the job with a "complete assembly" makes it easy... As opposed to using a spring compressor tool and replacing the strut and seat/bearing individually.
Edit: I do not know if that strut (linked above) is compatible with your SVT or not.

2003 SVT Front struts OE or Aftermarket?
My 2003 SVT ZX3 is in need of strut replacement.
Which strut would you recommend as a replacement for best balance between performance and comfort?
What is the cost per side?
Should I DIY or take to shop? (I am handy with tools, not a expert)
Thanks for any reply!
