FoMoCus Good to hear it was a simple fix. The shifter was probably my least favorite thing about my zx3. The rest of the car was enjoyable, but shifting not so much. I was always having issues getting into first and reverse smoothly, no matter how much adjusting I did.

freemancomputer I went out on my lunch and pulled everything apart and put it back together and its working like it should now. My guess is something was just a little off.

FoMoCus You can adjust the cables using those orange buttons on them near the transmission end of the cables. I had to do it after my transmission swap on my 02. I forget the exact procedure as to what position the shift lever should be in when you press them, but if you search the forum you should find it. I think you are suppose to hold the lever far left and depress the button on that cable for horizontal movement, and in 4th gear on the other cable. That could be wrong though.

I know its easier if you have 2 people, one inside and one outside. I only had myself so I made use of some bungie straps to hold the shift lever in place.

01 zx3 not going into 5th

Going to work this morning the part that connects the cable to the shifter snapped off. After having it welded back on and installing everything it will not go into 5th gear. It feels like there is not enough room going to the right to get it in place, all other gears works just fine. Is there a way to adjust the shifter or cable?
