amc49 Because they make the company money after as little as one terminal cleaning removes enough material they do not clamp tight any longer. The design flat sucks there.

To mikeeshaq, oh no, I checked the fuses, relays, and wiring and there is NOTHING wrong with them..........................LOL, the biggest batch of incorrect deductions here onsite. I have met the enemy and he is ME.

ellmarshptbo yeah those terminal connectors are odd, I don't like them. I have them on my 06' and much prefer the older style on my dads 05'. Don't understand why they had to change them.

mikeeshaq The bottom part of the bolt is 'anchor' shaped see the poster above iminhell \_I_/
For now get some pie plate material, 'drill' a hole then cut/shape it so it covers the 'anchor'.

The other possibility is that you have some sort of anti corrosive felt pad around the post-dump it

Anyway now tighten the connection, it should work

If it does then hunt down some thin brass sheet and replace that first piece
To eliminate galvanic corrosion of dissimilar metals
Congrats of having a multimeter, SO MANY here think they can just look at stuff and solve electrical problems and start throwing parts at the situation

iminhell \_l_/ -- That is about how the bolt looks. The edges of the battery clamp are straight for the most part.
So when the bolt is tightened the fingers of the clamp are forced together.
Being it is lead and soft, if it's overtightened or through repetitive use, the clamp will deform and the bolt can not clam tight enough.

The proper fix is going to be a new clamp or cable assembly.
A quick/temporary fix may be to simply 'shim' the bolt. Maybe a thin piece of metal on either side of the bolt will help.

neg post problem

Wife called said car is Dead. I got my voltmeter & hook strap and set out. Battery had 12.7v. I wriggled the battery connnections and she started.

Found the neg post connector just as you tighten the nut out, will turn
a little as if loose. Its nothing like a regular car battery connector. Ford.

Whats the fix?
