Lil PZEV Goode, all Focus antennas twist off, if you've never done it before it might be a little stuck or something, but it just unscrews from its base by hand.

03zx3hatch Ok I finally got the balls to try the DIY shorty....came out great.

Chopped it down from 28" before to about 10.5" now including the rubber tip. It looks much cleaner and smoother on the car...I did have to manually tune a few radio stations, which I then added to presets, and they seem to come in same as before. I will post pictures soon when the weather is nice and the car is clean.

Thanks.

03zx3hatch what is the lowest you can cut down the stock antenna without totally messing up the reception?

MISVTfocus ^^ mine looks like that only just a little longer, IMO the DIY is definatly the best! Looks stock and stays strong. Brilliant write up. Good luck with your decision.

i am starting to lean again towards buying the $20 one and keeping my stock one as is in case.

thanks to all for their quick replies.
Save your $20 man.
The billet ones SUCK!

I had a black one on my SVT last year for a month before it faded purple on the front side.
Reception sucks (pretty bad) with it too.
Also you run the risk of breaking your antenna base since it can't flex and that's another part to buy.

Cut down your stock antenna for FREE!
You'll get good reception still and your antenna will still be flexible.
Plus I think it's looks better than the billet ones anyways.

Chick Have you seen the 1.2" shorty on ebay? I bought one (sadly I don't have a pic of it on my car at the moment) and I like it a lot better then the billet one that I had on my car before.
