nate4027 On a side note, I am changing my timing belt and the VCT sprocket has a little bit of free play once I took the belt off. Does the sprocket bolt just need to be re torqued?

1turbofocus What you have to keep in mind is if the timing is off the solenoid why trying to work will be at its max trying to correct the timing being off

95% of all VCT solenoids that are changed are not bad

vct solenoid issues

thanks for your reply turbofocus. I did recently do the timing belt as u suspected. Went i trouble shoot the solenoid however it seems it needs to be replaced according to the alldata diag. Just wondering if u knew or had the ohm specs of a known good sensor? Thanks for your help once again

1turbofocus If you recently changed your timing belt and you have the under / over advanced code then your cam timing is off and your solenoid isnt bad , even if you check it and think its right it isnt
I have been working on the SVT a long time and I have only seen 2 bad solenoids and they were both broken at the bottom where the o-ring goes

patcortino in response to the guy that ohmed out his vct solenoid and found 10 ohms. I believe the factory spec is between 3 to 6 ohms. my car keeps throwing a p1383 code. i checked the cams and they r correctly timed. i checked the wire wiring to the vct and followed the trouble shooting and it says to replace the solenoid. my solenoid also ohmed out at 10 ohms. My question is could anyone ohm out a known good vct sensor and post the findings? just wanted to know before i shelled out the big bucks for a new solenoid. thanks for the help

Before it sat for months, it would turn on. I could hear it along with a very noticeable bump in power. Now it doesn't seem to have the sound or power anymore. I have some check engine codes I need to get on, I think at one point the code pertained to the intake manifold runners.

p0sitivevibez Mine's not engaging anymore. I hit 5500 rpm and nothing. Gonna soak that mofo in brake cleaner.
